The Journey To Creating CrossroadsToClassics

Crossroads To Classics – The REAL Story (a tongue in cheek dramatization)

It all began in 2015 as an online search for a bicycle repair shop. She knew there was one nearby. She had just met the owner a few days earlier. She couldn’t remember his name or what street the shop was on so she did an online search to find him.

Nothing!

Since Google wasn’t giving her anything local she started looking for an online directory. Surely she could find a local bicycle repair shop there.

No local business directories. “Are you kidding me?” she said out loud.

There was the court house staff directory, the LDS genealogy directory, the local school directory, the chamber partners directory and a few others.

“Dekalb County Indiana needs a REAL online business directory!” she said in dismay.

She thought, briefly, about doing it herself. But she couldn’t afford the start up costs. Good directory software is expensive!

(Thinking) She knew what it took to run an online directory. She had done it before in a specialized niche.

She had maintained over 600 websites in that directory.

Every month she re-verified the links, culled the bad ones, and searched for more sites to add to it.

She eventually left that niche to study digital marketing and seo.

She never did find that bicycle repair shop.

Fast forward to 2020.

The pandemic has caused a huge economic shift. Many businesses are hurting. People are in distress.

People are trying to help each other if they can. She wants to help too, but what can she do?

The last two years she had been making digital coloring books and coloring pages. (Small comfort to people who are losing their jobs.)

Then, an old business acquaintance sends her a link to his new software company. He’s looking for beta testers.

(Remembering) He built the software that she used, years ago, to create her first online directory. She knows he makes good software.

She’s in! She’ll be one of his beta testers.

Wow! After seeing the software and trying it out she now has something that can REALLY help others and she can give it away for f r e e !

She can think of at least 10 different ways a person could use this software to create their own online side hustle. This would be helpful to someone who wants to create their own business working from home… or give a local business an online presence.

Looks like she’ll be making websites again.

Wait!

Does Dekalb County Indiana still need that online directory?

Yes they do! She’s going to make that online directory.

And, she did.

And that is how we got:
CrossroadsToClassics.com

The end…

Of the story.

That’s the true beginning.

Everything begins with a thought. Follow through makes it reality.
